EFF the Pittsburg Steelers!
Oh, whoops. Sorry about that outburst I’m still a little bitter about Superbowl 43. That was the Cardinals game to win….but they didn’t. So let’s look forward to the upcoming season and Superbowl 44 shall we? Which I believe the Arizona Cardinals are well equipped to make another run at the Superbowl title. The NFC champions had an interesting off-season, to say the least. But the front office managed to keep the key players happy (for now) and I’m even more excited for this season to kick off for my Cardinals.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Cardinals have the best Safety this side of Baltimore in Adrian Wilson and don’t forget Antrel Rolle who I think might just surprise some folks this year. Two young Cornerbacks, one that has yet to reach his full potential in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and semi young (lol) Bryant McFadden who if can stay healthy is a beast, hell even when he isn’t all that healthy is still a beast . Oh and some dude by the name of Darnell Dockett? Maybe you’ve heard of him? And a pretty solid linebacking group lead by Karlos Dansby. With a new defensive coordinator at the helm, I expect a much better, consistent defense to show up this season. Finishing 16 in defense last year was okay but the Cardinals have the potential and the athletic ability to at least crack the top ten this season. One of my primary concerns for the defense is the pass rush. I mean let’s be honest; The Cardinals aren’t exactly the best at that. McFadden should help with that. The word of the season for this group should be Consistency…….
On the other side of the ball, the Cardinals have the two best young receivers in the league. There is no denying that Larry Fitzgerald is kind of like a freak of nature. And real talk, Anquan Boldin would be a #1 receiver on any other team in the league. With combine totals of 185rec, 2,469yds and 23 touchdowns, that’s almost double the Steelers top two W.R combined touchdown’s (12), the Bronco’s top two W.R (11) and closing out the Texans top two W.R (16) and the Saints (15). The Saints, Texan’s and Bronco’s were three of top four offensive leaders in the NFL last year along with the Cardinals of course. And it doesn’t hurt that they a have a solid #3 guy who can catch balls too. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rookie running back Wells fits in with the Cardinals, IF he can stay healthy. I like Tim Hightower but eh? He’s a decent size, he hasn’t really fumbled but I don’t know. I’m not really sold on him, he did what he needed last year, held on to the ball and got in the endzone 10 times. Like I said I’m looking forward to what Chris Wells can do. A position I’m worried about is Tight End. There’s a dog fight going on for that number one spot. Personally I like Leonard Pope. He’s the tallest out of all the guys fighting for the spot at 6’8. And I have this feeling that he can do really good things ( I watched him at UGA), but he needs to catch balls when they are thrown his way.

Next position is Quarterback, at 38 I don’t how much longer Kurt Warner has, but if the O-line can protect him like they did last year, which they should be able to do then KW should be good. As for the second string spot, neither Matt Leinart nor Brian St. Pierre really do anything for me.
In Matt Leinart’s case, letting a 37/38 year old man come in and take the spot from you is…..weak, for lack of a better word. And St. Pierre to be honest, I haven’t really seen him in action that much to say anything about him. The spot I’m most worried about is special teams Kick/Punt Returner, with Garvin possibly out for the season and Steve Breaston being the number 3 guy on the depth chart for wide-outs and already being kind of iffy with the knee injury I’m at a lost as to who will return kicks. It isn’t a good idea to have Antrel Rolle or anyone else on defense do it (I don’t think) like how they did last year. This spot is a toss up for me…. The words for the season for this group are injury free….lol I can wish can’t I?
