Submitted by Pigskin Loving Lady.Football, football, football. The cream in my coffee, and the passion that fuels my heart. I became an avid viewer of the game during my pregnancy with my first son. We were stationed in Frankfurt, Germany during the years the Buffalo Bills were making their 4 Super Bowl appearances. My husband took the time to answer all my questions, while patiently (most important) teaching me the game. I must admit, I was hooked.I route for the Buffalo Bills because I’m from Buffalo, duh!! But I’m not like most football fanatics...I love the game so much that I want every team to do well. That sounds crazy, but I’m dead serious. I enjoy the competition, witnessing the battle…and seeing the kings get crowned. Do I want my Bills to stand atop the mountain and declare victory…yes, but I’m realistic.
Football heads seem to think all the pressure is on Terrell Owens. T.O.’s arrival to the Queen City is more about the future than the present IMO. His work ethic, along with the passion for the game will hopefully inspire the young NFL’ers on the team. He signed for one year and in 1 year can he turn around a franchise that has missed the playoff for 10 consecutive years? Maybe, it’s the NFL, anything is possible. But I believe his presence will be felt positive or negative, next season.
As for the team, my concerns are the offensive line. Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch (RB) and Fred Jackson (RB) can only be as good as the offensive will allow them to be. During the preseason that was the weakest link. Hopefully they’ve learned enough to be a formable force. The Bills can’t win with Edwards taking sacks and scrambling for his life. Ugh… I’m throwing down the gauntlet at the feet of o-line. Man the eff up and play ball dammit!!
The defense is vastly improved with the drafting of DE Aaron Maybin of Penn State. Maybin was highly regarded for his speed and agility, and he’ll need all of that and then some to succeed in the NFL. The Bills will need the rookie to help apply pressure and record more than the 24 sacks they landed last season.
The Bills started the 2008 season off on fire, winning their first 4 games. Edwards went down with an injury, and so did the season. We showed we have the potential to amass W’s….and let’s start that tonight against New England! LET’S GO BUFFALO!!!! (It’s gonna be a looooooong season)
