The Ravens wide receivers are mad.... real mad. And I don't blame them.
They are tired of being disrespected by fans and the media. On Sunday, ESPN's Keyshawn Johnson and Cris Carter criticized the Ravens WR corp, with Johnson going even further by saying,
"You want a bum, you pay a bum."
Low blow, KJ!
WR Derrick Mason fought back, and understandably so. According to CBSSports.com, Mason responded with the following quote,
"Keyshawn Johnson is the bum, that's why he's in the analyst seat. He tried to come back to football but no one would sign him. He was never that good a player. He got lucky and signed on in Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl because they had a great defense.
"Just look at the two people doing the criticizing, that's all I'm saying. Keyshawn was overrated and Carter is in the same boat I'm in. He doesn't have a Super Bowl ring either. He's in the analyst seat without a ring. At least I'm playing. He still wants to play but he can't anymore. We're the bums? That's why you're in the analyst seat. Just be quiet and keep dreaming you still could play."
Good for you, D Mase!
The Ravens WRs came out to prove folks wrong Sunday in their 38-24 win against the Kansas City Chiefs, with over 300 yards in the air. Although the Ravens played a rebuilding Chiefs team, they started the game airing it out, throwing 6 consecutive passes in the opening series.
Fans in the land of Purple and Black have been begging for a Brandon Marshall or an Anquan Boldin trade. I was on the Boldin bandwagon myself. He would bring this team over the top, was my thought process. While I still think we could use another WR to help our current group, I still believe that this is a championship caliber team with the guys we have.
The Ravens are a running team. We are built to pound it out. The Chiefs game is not something we will see every week. But only in situations where we are able to do so against lesser defensive opponents, in which the Chiefs were. Mason is still one of the best possession receivers. With Clayton getting more time to connect with second year QB Joe Flacco, it could lead to a very productive duo in the future. The Kelley Washington signing was always a good signing in my opinion(He's great as a slot receiver and for slant passes) and if Demetrius Williams can get back to his 2006 form, this can be a very productive group.
Kelley Washington

The Ravens WRs are no Fitzgerald and Boldin, but what WR group is?! I'm glad Mason defended himself and the guys he goes to war with. Carter and especially Keyshawn need to sit their azzes down!
Thank you Derrick Mason for finally barking back. Let's see how much of a bum you are if you make to Miami.
