There are STARS in my eyes

Submitted by Chelsia. Hey football fans, sorry that I’m “tardy for the party” but my football juices have been flowing right on time. I’m proud to say that I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. Being the best comes with a lot of heat especially when you don’t always play like you’re the best. Let’s get the same ole anti-Cowboys one liners out of the way. “You guys haven’t won a playoff game since the 90’s”. *filing nails* really? Well we also won 3 Super Bowls in the 90’s. FIVE GOLDEN RINGS!!!! Then there is the infamous “you guys hire thugs and crack heads”…well, I can’t say that Jerry Jones doesn’t see things in people that everyone else plan to give up on, but he did something right with Michael Irvin, end result that god-awful yellow jacket. We got rid of T.O but 13 TDs and almost 1200 yards over a 3 year span aint bad is it? Some folks hate that Jerry is the KING of Texas. I love it and I love him. I love that big monitor hanging down on the field. I love that we have the best stadium in the league. I love that there are recession friendly $29 seats available with a great view; as a matter of fact I’m 3 shots of tequila from tattooing a blue star on my chest, maybe I should get one with Terrell Owens standing on it!

So we got rid of one Roy Williams and picked up another. I’m glad we got rid of 31 Roy; I think I could out run him. The other Roy, well I’m on the fence. He has some big shoes to fill and he doesn’t have much to go on coming from the Lions; a team that set a record that it probably wouldn’t want to be noted for. (RIP To Cory Smith). He has to make his own niche in the world of Romo (QB) to Witten (TE) for the score. Martellus Bennet (TE) promises to step his game up this season and I’m excited for him to do so, if for nothing else because he’s one of the players I follow on Twitter and he’s cooler than the other side of the pillow. I like to see young players do their thing on the field, especially when they are well disciplined. I’m very excited about our running game this year. Felix Jones (RB) is coming back with 2 seasons worth of momentum. He alongside Marion Barber (RB) aka “find a hole or make one” is is going to be hell on a defensive line. Add Tashard “the Choice is yours” to that cipher and we really have something spectacular this year. Jason Garrett has a lot to make do with.

Defense wins games. I’m all for a lot of flair on the field but what football all boils down to is a good defensive game. Demarcus Ware is the rock star energy drink for the rest of the defense so I hope he is 100% in the upcoming games. (20 sacks last year FYI) Defense hasn’t been our strong suit for the most part; they are inconsistent and lack order. I don’t know if they are overzealous or they need a new DC. But then again a coordinator can do but so much.

I hate to be that delusional fan that thinks their subpar team will make it to the big dance but I feel as if I have a right to. We have the equipment to do so but we just have to play like we are the team that we ARE. That is what it has always come down to. We are a revered squad with a nationwide fan base and probably just as many that want to see the Stars fall. The Stars will shine this year, we are coming for the six pack.
