In week 3 against the New York Giants, Byron Leftwich played like he was JaMarcus Russell of the Oakland Raiders (7-16 for 22 yards, no TDs and one interception). That is not a good thing, in case you don't pay attention to the performance of the Raiders. Leftwich was finally pulled and benched and in came 2nd-year QB Josh Johnson. During the first few plays where Johnson entered the game, the announcers said that Johnson has a quick release whereas Leftwich has a big windup. Johnson finished with 36 yards going 4-10.Soon after declaring that the Buccaneers were sticking with Byron Leftwich as the starter, Head Coach Raheem Morris announced that Josh Johnson be the starting quarterback for the week four Washington Redskins game. To add salt to Leftwich's wound, Morris also let it be
known that the team's 2009 first round draft pick Josh Freeman would be ahead of Leftwich on the depth chart, making Leftwich the 3rd string quarterback.
In watching this year's preseason games, both Johnson and Freeman appeared to scramble around for yards more than they did throw. I am not certain whether either Josh can throw the ball deep but they can definitely buy some time while searching for an open receiver to whom
they can throw. What I do know is that Johnson did not start or even play in any games last year as a rookie with the Buccaneers. Uh, go Bucs Submitted by Shirley.

Josh Johnson has a major league arm and his receivers are getting healthy. I am not saying he is definitely going to play well but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a big day. Especially if they get the running game going.
