Every fall I find out the same thing about myself. I am a glutton for punishment. Week in and week out I root for the Jets. Sometimes I get lucky, but most of the time I just get smacked and punished. This week has been no exception. My Sunday afternoon was spent watching two sub-par teams try to give each other the game. There was nothing spectacular about it, just bad play after bad play-with the exception of two Thomas Jones runs; and at least on the Jets side, interception after interception.
They also lost one of their biggest defensive weapons in Kris Jenkins, with what is being called a "probably severe" knee injury. Of course things could be worse, but really? This is just all bad.
I had kind of fallen in love with the idea of the Jets being a contender this year, but as the past three weeks have proven, they are looking more and more like pretenders. It's sad. They seemed to have the right pieces in place, but none of them seem to be clicking at the right time (or anytime really).
So, it's off to have another pity party, complete with delicious Thai food and lots of beer, because lets face it, watching the Jets recap is something I'll want to do only while distracted by a hangover, with the sounds of my cookies being tossed to drown it all out.
