By: MayaAn early BYE week didn’t seem to slow the Saints down one bit. The team is off to a beautiful, undefeated start! They have made the necessary adjustments to get them to where they are now, 5-0 with the latest 48-27 win against the previously undefeated New York Giants.
Sunday’s game was dubbed the “Battle of the Unbeatens”, but the hype in New Orleans made it seem more like a Pay-Per-View event than a regular Sunday game; and what a game it was. Talking about making great passes, great catches, great blocking, great tackles…greatness all over the field. Drew Brees escaped the game with no interceptions or sacks. He completed 23 of 30 passes for 369 yards; four touchdowns. There were great connections on almost every play. At one point it looked as if Saints route running completely baffled the Giants, but of course it worked in our favor. As one Big difference from Saints this season and Saints last season: consistency. Better play calling, impressive route running, and Brees is able to connect a lot better. Both ends looked good but for this game, offense deserves a standing ovation (clap for ‘em, clap for ‘em, clap for ‘em. Hey!) I’ll still praise the team as a whole, because they’re making it work.
Finally, the team is functioning as a TEAM. One man does not make the magic happen this go-round.
*Random side note: Still thinking about Aikman’s suggestion: where/how would Reggie Bush fit in a new position? Would Mr. Bush trade in his RB for WR? Interesting. Very interesting.
When the Saints win, they not only boost confidence for the team, but also for the city. Parties always start on Bourbon. Winning leads to bigger celebrations. Celebrations lead to more consumption of alcoholic beverages. Consumption of alcoholic beverages=big bucks for bars throughout the metro area. Win-win situation all around J
And so we have it, the Saints on a serious winning streak. Even typing that, I’m still in disbelief. I haven’t seen performances like this from the team since the early 90s. Can this be “our year”? The “our year” we’ve been speaking of since the team was established? Long season ahead, but still keeping the faith.![]()
