So there are some rabid fans who are going around talking about what a
great thing it will be if the Jets can win out and get a whole lot of
help from the teams around them. They could be a wild card! I don't
live on that planet, but I do agree that they should be doing their
level best to at least break even on the season-or go 9-7.
They took a step in the right direction on Thursday night, beating the
Bills at the Rogers Centre to move to 6-6, and third place in the
division. That whole "losing to Miami twice" thing is biting them in
the ass right now, but it was a good, necessary win, and it sets them
up to do pretty well as the season winds down.
Unfortunately, Mark Sanchez suffered a sprained PCL, and while all
indications are that he will play this Sunday, it wouldn't shock me at
all if he is held out in favor of Kellen Clemens. Luckily there is a
long week for him to be treated and rest up, and the team will benefit
from getting Clemens extra reps just to be on the safe side.
As for the game-much better than the debacle in the Meadowlands that
saw the Jets give up five interceptions and miss a last second field
goal that sent the game to overtime, and the Jets to the showers as
losers of three in a row.
Thomas Jones had a pretty darned good game, rushing for 109 yards and
a touchdown, and as a team the Jets finished this season's series
against Buffalo with over 500 rushing yards.
There were some spectacular drops (Braylon!) but he did make up for it
with a touchdown and even when Clemens came into the game, he took
care of the ball. I can't say
A nice effort for the Jets this week. Next up? The Bucs. Lets see if
they can go on another three game winning streak, because you know-
they could still make the playoffs. Kind of like I could wake up one
day and not detest the Red Sox.
Hey, you never know!
