I know I’ve been neglecting my duties as a Saints blogger, but I’ve been caught up in the hype. Forgive me, but I’m back with the only two words that seem to fly during random times: WHO DAT.11-0, and I’m still asking to be pinched. Who would have known? Loyal Saints fans hold on every year in hopes that this will be “our time” or “our year,” but even with a perfect record, there is no room to exhale. Starting with the matchup against the Dolphins, the games since then had been close. Teams had started catching on to what the Saints were doing. The explosive starts the Saints had were being shut down, Brees kissed the turf a lot more than Saints fans would have expected, and the ball was being turned over more than we cared for. Nobody really knew what to expect, and the only thing fans could do was pray for the best, and prepare for the worst. Let’s keep it real, the Saints do have a history of finding creative ways to lose.
Back to the present.
This had to be one of the most hyped up games, and the best crowd since the home opener a year after Hurricane Katrina (Sept. 25, 2006) for the Saints. The game started a little shaky, the Saints with a field goal, and the Patriots being the first to score a touchdown. No time to worry, but they couldn’t let that happen again. Favorite moment and turning point of the game: bringing the ex-turned-active-roster Saint back (lol).

***WELCOME BACK, MIKE MCKENZIE!***
After being unemployed last week, but continuously showing the Saints and the city of New Orleans love, Mike McKenzie was able to suit up once again as a Saint. Some say this could have been his best game as a Saint. Personally, I couldn’t care less. He did what we was brought back to do. He put in work last night, starting with the interception that seemed to give the Saints their confidence back. That, along with big tackles here and there makes me happy that we put our money, and faith, back into McKenzie. Job well done, sir. Drew Brees threw for 371 yards, five touchdowns. We ALL know what he’s capable of doing, and it feels good knowing he can connect with almost anybody on the field.
On the note of giving props, big shouts to Robert Meachem. Going from basically “nothing” to something without giving up takes heart; especially fighting to keep a spot on the active roster. He called it a while back when stating that this season would be his year, and so far, he hasn’t let the Who Dats down one bit. Keep playing like this, Meach, and you’ll be able to buy more of those fancy watches you flash every post-game interview. :-)
Although the Saints did take a couple of hits missing Jabari Greer, Lance Moore, Reggie Bush, it just goes to show that the Saints are adjusting as a team and preparing when some of the biggest names on the roster have to be sidelined. That’s one of the biggest differences between this season, and all the previous seasons. One man can’t get the job done. If he tries, he won’t last long.
Saints are getting past the tougher teams as the season winds down, but the boys in black and gold know they can never get comfortable. Even being 11-0, they’re still careful not to let celebration get the best of them. Can’t wait to see what the next five games will bring. Until then, let’s do it again. 12-0, we’re coming for you!
