Recap: Green Bay Packers defeat the St. Louis Rams

Week 3, the Green Bay Packers defeat the St. Louis Rams bringing us to 2-1. There were things about the Packers performance that really excited me. There were also potential problems that may keep us from getting to the big show. Lets start with what excites me!

    1. THE PACKERS DEFENSE- The Packers D-Line was ON. #74 Johnny Jolly (allow him to reintroduce himself) was BEASTING! He was blocking kicks, recovering the ball and smashing. He was cheated out of an interception which the refs ruled a fumble recovery, but we’ll take it. Rookie L.B. Matthews out of USC made us Angelinos proud with his defensive contributions. Charles Woodson showed his haters that he’s still in his prime, with interceptions game after game. Aaron Kampman sacks Rams QB Marc Bugler in the 1st quarter and Bugler left the game with a bruised shoulder. This set an early tone and shook up Boller, Buglar’s replacement, letting him know, “We aint no busters, and we came to play.”

    2. THE PASSING GAME- Watching Aaron Rodgers beautiful chemistry with Donald Driver and Greg Jennings reminds me of my FAV Packer team of the late 90’s. I almost felt like I was watching Favre with Antonio Freeman and Robert Brooks. Rodgers rarely over throws and Driver and Jennings treat that ball like the soap in prison. Driver made an “OMG catch” in the 1st half. He caught the ball with only the finger tips of one hand and held on to it in that one hand all the way to ground. Gotta love these guys.

    3. RYAN GRANT-He is really starting to turn me on. No, it’s not because of his aggressive, cute little yellow face. It’s his consistency and strength. I got another 90’s flash back because Grant was pounding through the Rams D-Line taking major hits getting 5 to 10 yards at a time just like Dorsey Levens used to. He also came through with the big drives when we needed them.

    4. Last but most importantly, AARON RODGERS- When Favre was still repping the Green and Gold and he’d get hurt, I always had faith that we could start Aaron Rodgers as QB and win games. I always knew he’d make a great leader when Favre left and so far, I was right. Aaron Rodgers is efficient, smart, and great leader for his team. I loved his 4th quarter rush for the 1st and goal and then the TD on the very next play. He clowned in the in zone too!

    Now for the concerns.

    1. The BIGGEST PROBLEM: KICK OFF/PUNT RETURNS-Though the Packers scored on just about every possession, we were forced to kick field goals too often. The Reason-Corner Will Blackmon isn’t getting us any yards on return. His biggest returns are no more than 20 yards. We usually start off in bad field position and have to move the ball too far up field running out of downs and having to kick the field goal. The positive is that Kicker Mason Crosby can handle it and get us 3 although we’d like 6.

    2. THE SACKS-Aaron Rodgers finds a new butt buddy to continuously throw him in the ground each game. This week it was the Rams Leonard Little. Defense is doing a great job at giving A Rod time to throw the ball. Its up to him to get it off.

If we can handle that, you just might see us at the BOWL!

NEXT WEEK IS FAVRE and the VIKINGS!!!! BRING EM OUT, BRING EM OUT.

    Ravens: Whadaya Know... We're 3-0!!!!!!!!

Okay, that was rather corny of me. But ask me if I care??!! What I do care about, is that the Ravens are 3-0. The Ravens treated the Browns like a High School Junior Varsity team. And fans in Ravenstown expected nothing less. The Ravens are on a mission to get to Miami, and the Browns were in the way.

Before I go any further, please don't give me any crap about us playing against weak teams like Kansas City and Cleveland. Or don't tell me how my boo Philip Rivers and the Chargers gave our defense the business. If you really want to take it there, let me remind you of these facts: Joe Flacco is 5th in QB rating at 101.5, behind the likes of the Manning brothers and Drew Brees. Willis McGahee has 5 rushing TDs- the most in the league . The offense is #2 in total offense, only behind the high powered Saints.

The Ravens are doing what they should be; blowing past lesser opponents (KC, Cle) and winning big games against quality teams (SD). I expect nothing less from them, a team who miraculously made it to an AFC Championship with a rookie head coach and rookie QB. To see them handling business when they should is what championship teams are all about.

The Ravens take on the New England Patriots this Sunday, which could be a statement game for them. The Ravens have never beaten New England and the last time these 2 teams met in 2007, the Pats squeaked by a win with a minute left in the game, to continue their bid for an undefeated season. The New England Patriots of 2009 aren't the Pats of 2 years ago. Brady looks out of the sync and the defense has some different faces. But they are still a juggernaut in this league, and you can never count them out. Beating the Pats can be a huge monkey off the Ravens back (that is, until they play the Steelers in November).

The Ravens are doing nothing short of expectations. They are 3-0 and aren't taking any prisoners in the process. Next up: New England

    Bench Him!!!

I went over and over in my head the direction I would go this week for my blog. No cute little sayings, no details on my weekend or my Fantasy Football, just straight to the point. As if the title wasn’t enough. We lost 23-3 on Sunday to the Denver Broncos. Not to take anything away from the Broncos which to me suck, if we would have made the necessary adjustments on defense, the WR wouldn’t have ate us up and had we had a strong QB, Murphy and Heyward-Bey would have put up score after score. Our loss was unacceptable but with the person we have running point, it was bound to happen. Bench JaMarcus!

Our defense was suspect and our offense was even worse. We got penalties that were costly and looked like we had given up in the 3rd quarter. Our QB was 12/24 for 61 yards, passing and he had 2 interceptions. That’s not going to cut it. That’s not going to get us at .500 even. We have a team that’s ready to win. HELL, were capable of winning and were weakest at the most important position on the field, QB. Our Wide Receivers can’t get active with our “leader” putting up pop warner numbers like that! We have several rookies on this team that can’t benefit and won’t benefit under the leadership of JaMarcus Russell! One FG in the 2nd quarter and that field goal were the only points we put up. Our passing game has got to improve and in order to do that Tom Cable must…Al Davis must allow Tom Cable to bench JaMarcus! Our running game was only okay. McFadden 3 fumbles, we could have done without. Luckily Oakland recovered them all. We only have Seymour for a year, if he leaves; our capability to defend the runs digresses. If Al Davis doesn’t let go, we’ll be a team with a losing record for many years to come. I’m disgusted right now at the lack of effort our defense put forth and upset at the frustration Seymour displayed.

I’m disappointed that we have wide receiver rookies Murphy, Heyward-Bey and tight end Brandon Myers who came ready to perform but are hindered by Russells inability to connect. Higgens and Schillens know my frustration as they have had to deal with JaMarcus not being able to throw for the past two years. He can’t scramble or read defense. In the press conference I saw via Behind the Shield, Tom Cable never addressed the QB issue. He said “it’s everybody” No it’s not everybody TOM! its JaMarcus! With a total of 137 yards, 53 penalty yard and 3 turnovers, it’s no wonder we lost...Murphy, Howard, Mitchell and Nandi I appreciate your efforts as you fought on every down as always. Good game. Al Davis is the worst NFL team owner next to the late Georgia Frontier and I pray that somebody know some sense into him. I have two words for you Al Davis...YOU SUCK or how about LET GO. I can try CABLES TEAM or SENILE BASTARD. How about LOSING RECORD or try this OVER IT. I can say ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES, but the two words I’d like you to adhere to are BENCH JAMARCUS!

My prediction was wrong but it doesn’t matter. Next week we get I predicted us to get a W against Houston. Schaub has been playing well so hopefully we’ll make adjustments to the run and pass play and are able to pull it out. Win Lose or Tie, Ima Raider till I die

Below is and email I sent to feedback@raiders.com I doubt it has an affect but I had to put it out there.

To whom it may concern (Al Davis)

First and foremost, let me start off by saying I'm a Raider fan and always will be. I support the Raiders in the good the bad and the ugly. I write every week as a Raider fan for www.gridirongals.com and no one will ever be able to change the love I have for the Oakland Raiders. With that being said, I need to tell you to pass this email to Al Davis and tell him to let the leash go. Let the team be run by the people he paid to run it. Furthermore, JaMarcus Russell ass needs to be benched. A veteran QB needs to brought in and he needs to be taught. Russell CANT lead this young team we have. Our WR are ready, Mitchell and Shaugnessy are all ready...What is AL thinking, we only Seymour for a year and with the way Davis is running this team he’s not gonna wanna stay, he is giving this team a curse, nobody wants to come here. He should be happy that Murphy and Heyward-Bey are happy to be here. They won’t ever be able to get any action if we don't get a QB who can make things happen. I'm looking at this game and don't know where I'm going to go with this blog, I’m at such a loss for words. JaMarcus needs to be benched and I'm sure Cable agrees. People have to walk on eggshells with Davis because they want their jobs. I have a headache right now watching this game. It makes me sick that we aren't living up to our potential... I mean really, seriously this doesn't make any sense. Davis is changing staff like he changes his draws... it takes time for things to work but let me tell you this. It’s not ever gonna work if Russell doesn't get some accuracy in his life and without a veteran QB to lead him it’s never going to happen. I'm going to give this email address out to all my Raider Nations on twitter and hope they flood this email with concerns like the ones I have addressed. I know AL Davis, you're going to do what you want but guess what bud? The shit aint working. How can you, after the great we've been use to, let our team CONTINUE to go down the drain like this. Make something happen, let Cable run his team. Attitude reflects leadership and right now your leadership sucks!. JaNaye

A girl could get used to this!!

After an exciting victory against the hated Patriots, the Jets came back for an encore (as Titans) to put a foot to the neck of the now 0-3 Tennessee Titans. Wow.

After yet another tough test-Mark Sanchez' first time playing in bad weather, first two turnover game and the first time the defense gave up touchdowns this season, the team clamped down and pulled out a victory that wasn't certain until the very end of the fourth quarter.

Coming in, the Titans had scored 31 points in their last contest and been running all over their opponents while stopping the run. While they were able to effectively shut down Thomas Jones and Leon Washington, they could never get past the Jets Defense, and allowed Mark Sanchez to run in one touchdown and throw for two.

The 4th quarter defense proved why the Jets are 3-0 today, instead of the 1-2 the pundits and "experts" predicted. They confused Kerry Collins with five man packages and disguised blitzes to the tune of 13 incompletions and an INT, in the waning moments of a game they could have tied.

Yet another bad end for Tennessee, who even disguised as someone else couldn't get it right in the final minutes. I'm sure they'll turn it around, and I'm really happy they didn't pick yesterday to do it.

    Next stop-New Orleans!

    Tale of 2 Veterans

In his first real home game with his new team, Favre overcame a bunch of bad throws and a few more hard hits to his almost-40-year-old body and found that winning touch again. The first five series of the second half: Three punts, Favre's first interception, and a turnover on downs. Adrian Peterson's had 19 carries. still had three timeouts left and were able to force a punt.

Vikes got the ball back at their 20 with 89 seconds left. I was not happy with how Childress used the last 3 time outs but hey IT WORKED! This is why we got him. There is no way that Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels would have made that play.. He should be our starting QB until he doesn't want to be anymore.

The last play began with 12 seconds left, and Favre stepped forward in the pocket and slid to the right and bought time for the receivers to move in position. Instead of throwing a ball up for grabs, he figured he could get close enough to the line of scrimmage to fire a line drive that would be tougher to defend.

The past few years it would have been; wait til next week. Now it's I can't wait for next week. 50 yards on a rope, not bad for an old man. For all of you who mourned the waiver of Wade, thought it was stupid to sign Greg Lewis, look at him now. Looks pretty good in PURPLE, if you ask me. One of the best finishes of all time. Brett Favre couldn't score it on the second to last drive, why? Not dramatic enough. We All LOVE DRAMA :) Better to do it in 80 yards with no time outs.

I need my Vikings Offensive line to step up, they are not playing 100%...any way it goes..SKOL VIKINGS!

ITS HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP!

“It’s Hard Out Here for A Pimp” by Tony Romo featuring Jerry Jones

Ouch. It’s like having an A-list house warming party only to have your most expected guest pour paint all over your new carpet. Or is it? Was that L The Cowboys took last week all that the fans (particularly fans of teams that either lost, or had funky wins, or just love to see us lose) have gone on and on about. I wore my #24 Jersey with pride. Why not? Besides the turnovers our offense looked solid. But you know I have to remember that there are certain types of fans out there. You have those that know the game because they played it, those that know the game because they watch intently, and those who are scoreboard watchers. Scoreboard watchers make comments like “The Cowboys Suck”. Yeah I said it, and I will include my email address in this blog so that you can speak to me directly about it. So I said well look, let me dumb myself down and ask, “Why do we suck”? Anyone want to guess what the #1 reason was? Okay I’ll tell you. Tony Romo.

Let’s gets some facts straight about Tony Romo and the Cowboys. Fans, we have to stop with blaming the QB for everything. Now I watched the game and there were times where he made mistakes. There was also some freaky business going on like a ball bouncing off Witten’s foot, not touching the ground and being run in for a TD. Youch. The Giants are the caliber team that will capitalize off any mistake. We gave them about 24 points. Unacceptable. I want to take some of this guilt off of Romo’s shoulder. He’s my quarterback Photobucket We were up by 1 point and our secondary couldn’t stop the pass. We let them crip walk down the field to FG position. We didn’t get to Eli at all during the game. There have been no sacks this season. PhotobucketDid Tony Romo suit up with a high number jersey to play D? *blank stare* . There were also some key dropped passes. I’m not gonna name names here. Do we miss TO? Of course we do. Why? We haven’t effectively replaced him. Hi. But there is still a lot of time for show and prove in the receiver posse.

Surprisingly I got the least amount of heat from Giants fans, although those that I have bet have reminded me of their winnings on more than one occasion. They know we played a great game against them and it was competitive to the last game ending FG. My father tells me all the time “Any Given Sunday…any team can win.” It’s true. Cowboys, Steelers, Pats all took a loss last week.

Tonight we play the Carolina Panthers. There are 3 things we need to remember above all else: 1. No Turnovers 2. Stop the Pass/Run 3. Convert on 3rd I’d like to add another rule directed at Flozell Adams who lead the league in penalties last year: BOI STOP K Photobucket

    Let’s Go Big D!

    Lucky Horseshoes

How does a Canadian girl end up loving football more than she likes seeing summer appear after a 7 month long winter! Well it all started with me and my dad watching the 85 Bears and I simply fell in love with the best game ever – the GRIDIRON! Living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada meant that my love affair for all things football included a passion for our own Canadian football league as well, but it was nothing like the NFL (I apologize to my fellow Canadians for stating the obvious truth.) Growing up I told anybody who listened that I had 2 strict rules about my life! The First – I was going to marry a NFL player to get me close to the leagues since I would never be able to play (Blame this thought on my youth… I was naive!) The Second - I would marry the first man that takes me to the Superbowl (Still No marriage = Still waiting on my ticket)

Fast forward years ahead and I now live in Toronto, Ontario. Instead of cheering on the Bills because there nearby, I rather tell you how my love for The Indianapolis Colts began…I was impressed by this young man from Tennessee who was a lil country and threw the ball with such perfection it almost made me tear up. Under Jim Mora’s direction the team assembled with stars; Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Dominic Rhodes. Then they brought in the brilliance that is Tony Dungy, reunited him with Tom Moore (for those who don’t know, he is the cherub faced former offensive coordinator that can wear his glasses on the tip of his nose for an entire game) and a great team was assembled. And to make my love of football complete, ironically my favorite team FINALLY won Super Bowl XLI, 29–17 over the Chicago Bears; the team that first made me love football.

Some may ask why I LOVE Peyton, well it’s because he is a student of the game and as a result he reads plays before the team knows what they are going to do and because I get the feeling that he screams audibles in his sleep and come on now he has perfected the No huddle offense…I could go on further but really he is a 3 Time MVP and shook his behind on SNL – ENOUGH SAID!

But hey I’m here to write about what is going on today and what we all love and enjoy - a brand new season. Every fan has high hopes, renewed faith and bragging rights on the table. My boys in blue with the lucky horseshoes had to solve their first order of business in the offseason - Defense.

Monday night’s game against Miami was on the turf where they last won the Superbowl. I found this game to be frustrating yet calming all at the same time. The Colts had the ball for less than 15 minutes, which meant the Wildcat was working and Peyton Manning spent most of the night on the sideline. They came from behind four times (10-7, 13-10, 20-13 and 23-20) but eventually rallied up the field in 6 plays capped off with a TD by Pierre Garcon and beat the Fins 27-23. When you review this game the most glaring statistic is The Colts ran 35 plays to The Dolphins 84; which explains why our defence looked thirsty most of the night. When Miami ponders why they lost, they must think about Mr. Manning who happened to earn his 119th victory with the Colts, breaking the franchise record for victories which was previously held by Famed Colts QB, Johnny Unitas.

So my final thoughts on what the rest of this season holds for The Colts are obviously favorable, yet cautious. Coach Caldwell has a lot to live up to; I mean Dungy is a Saint and well we are used to winning games. However, Coach realizes that we cannot always depend on Manning to win games, so we need a stronger, more aggressive and physical defence that stops the run. Monday night’s game showed us that there is much more room for improvement and you cannot expect to pull out wins in the last 3 minutes of every game. I know what these boys are capable of and I’m armed and ready in my Colts gear! So please let’s go to Arizona next week and show em what were made of!

    Battle of the Bays

The Raiders vs 49er Battle of the Bays is a battle I fight every day I see my relative Doze and his two homies, Oshon and JoVaughn..how cute their names rhyme and their brothers..I know. I normally don’t see all three of them at one time but because my relative George celebrated his 28th bday, the whole fam was in attendance. I don’t even know how we got on the 49ers. The last thing I remember is talking about me dropping Leftwich and picking up Schaub on my Fantasy team. These three 49er fans are so flippin delusional that I don’t even know what to do anymore. They are so gassed about these two wins and its driving me bananas.
The 49ers suck and yall won’t admit it! Then of course they wanted to talk about my Raiders. Asking me to put $200.00 on the line that the 49ers will have a better record than the Raiders. I swear I wanted to do it but I wasn’t going to let them bait me. See, there’s a difference between the real and the delusional. I’m a member of the Raider Nation. A real fan. I’ll be a Silver and Black supporter until the day that I die but I know that Russell right now aint squat and until he gets some accuracy he won’t be. That’s the only reason I didn’t take the bet. If I knew that somewhere in the season J.Russ would pull his ish together I would have bet all three of them the $200.00 but I don’t think he will.

Now these clowns are delusional. I told them the 49ers wouldn’t be jack if they didn’t have Frank Gore and they’re fighting it. How can you fight the truth. Then Oshon wants to bet again that Frank Gore has 200+ yards next week. He's a fool! Then they wanna say well if Bush isn’t there the Raiders are trash. Ha! Think again. We have a couple more people that can run the ball in McFadden, Zach Miller and a healthy Vargas…The pass is there with Higgins, Murphy, Heyward-Bey, Watkins and Nick Miller once he sees the green. The first thing Oshon said in Gores/49er defense is “Game one Gore only had 30 yards and we still won” Yeah he only had 30 yards but he had a 3yrd and a 6yrd touchdown. The only 2 TDs yall had! He had both touchdowns in last week game to. What offensive weapon are they going to turn to if hes out? I don’t know either but I tell you what I do know, it damn sure aint coffee.

The 49ers without Gore and a 0-2 field goal kicking team. The Raiders have the talent and once we get the QB to get his job done or we replace him, we won’t live this curse of Al Davis down. Then they shoot on the Raider Defense. Knock it off. Our defense is tearing it up right now. Ellis, Howard, Huff, Morrison, Scott , Seymour and Nnamdi are all on fire right now, pumping each other up and rubbing off on the rest of the team. I all have are these three words for all you Raider Haters and delusional 49er fan. Time to beware! Although "suck it easy" was my first choice, I thought I’d be nice. JaNaye.

Bucs Make It Into the Endzone 3 Times in Week 2 But Still Get a Loss

Another week, another loss. I know it is only week two but it made me worry that we might become the 2008 Lions. The NFL Chick was sweet enough to give the Cleveland Browns that title and remind me that at least the Buccaneers score touchdowns.

On the first play of the Bucs' opening drive, Tampa Bay had Byron Leftwich AND Josh Johnson on the field. In case you're not a Buccaneers or San Diego State fan, Josh Johnson is the backup QB. Yes, I was puzzled by that as well. It happened again on the second play with Johnson lining up on the line of scrimmage. These plays were not at all effective. I think the Bucs were confused themselves with Leftwich and Johnson both being in on that play. Johnson had one or two receptions a year in college so I do not know why Head Coach Raheem Morris thought Johnson ought to line up as a receiver.

Leftwich threw a nice little interception to the Bills for a TD return and another pass was intercepted but ONLY resulted to a field goal. Leftwich temporarily escaped my scorn when he threw a 42-yard TD pass to TE Kellen Winslow, making it 17-7 with 13 minutes left in the half. Leftwich also threw a short touchdown pass to Cadillac Williams after obtaining great field position from Sabby Piscitelli's fumble recovery running it back to about the 8 yard line (a 72-yard-run). The third TD was to TE Jerramy Stevens on a 4th-and-six where the Bucs attempted and failed a 2-point conversion thereafter.

The Bills were able to contain the Bucs' running game by limiting the total rushing yards to a dismal 57. On a 4th-and-one, the Bucs had Derrick Ward run for the first down but Ward was stopped short of the marker.

After having a great game last week, Michael Clayton was virtually absent with only 2 receptions and 27 receiving yards. In the fourth quarter, Maurice Stovall almost had a TD but caught the ball out of bands. Some words of advice to Stovall: watch tapes of Santonio Holmes, kid.

Vikings Greenway is NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Minnesota Vikings LB Chad Greenway earned his 1st career NFC Defensive Player of the Week honor for his performance at Detroit on Sunday.
Greenway matched a Vikings record with 3 takeaways in the game, snaring a pair of INTs off Lions QB Matthew Stafford and recovering a
fumble. He finished the game with 4 tackles, 2 INTs that he returned for a combined 49 yards, a fumble recovery and an onside kick recovery.

Greenway is only the 3rd LB in team history to post 3 takeaways in a game, joining Jack Del Rio and Roy Winston.

Including Greenway, the Vikings have had 9 different players earn NFC Player of the Week honors a total of 12 times since 2006. Greenway is the 5th Viking to earn defensive honors over that span and his 2 INTs match his career total entering 2009.

QB Aaron Rodgers gets OWNED by Antwan Odom

So, as you know, the reciever formally known as Chad Johnson and the Cincinnati Bengals gave the Packers our first lost of the season. I was preparing for a show and couldn’t make it to my folk’s house to watch NFL ticket until the 2nd half. So until then, between putting on mascara and re painting my chipped toe nail I checked Nfl.com for the play by play. Things seem to be going fine. I’m all over the place in dealing with this loss so try to follow me through the agony of defeat.

1st quarter: Looking Good. They score 1, we score two.

(Both kicks are good so Mason Crosby gets an award for most improved kicker from C+ last week to an A+ this week)

2nd quarter: CB Charles Woodson is Baaaaaaaallin! Runs an interception in for TD.

    Then Bengals score…Tie Game….Half time

Halftime: Me in my Jeep dipping on backstreets. Bumping BP3. Nutwood, to Prarie to 90th to the undisclosed location which holds the keys to my Packer happiness-NFL Ticket.

Now, with a piece of leftover chicken hanging out of my mouth. The 2nd half starts.
1st big play I get to see: Ochocinco scores…and does the Lambeau Leap?? How dare he? But you got love the little trans-ethniced attention grabber. Now we are down by 10.

Suddenly its all bad. Aaron Rodgers gains an appreciation for getting his face mashed in the ground by DE Antwan Odom (wonder if he is related to the nut job who’s marrying a Kardashian after after a month but God bless em). Odom proceeds to smash his face in 4 more times equaling 6 sacks for the game, setting a record for most sacks on our home turf. UGH! By this time I’m running around the kitchen like Mama Payne from Martin. “OHH LAWD!”

Suddenly, a ray of hope. Oh thanks God I knew you cared! Ryant Grant with a beautiful touchdown with 3 mins left in the game! All we need is an onside kick and a TD and we in there baby!

With 46 seconds left, the onside kick bounces….SUCCESS! That hottie Tramon Williams I told yall to google… Yeah Buddy! HE DID THAT!! (Now doing the butterfly. I’m dramatic about my team yall I’m sorry).

Rodgers does a great job finding his receivers. We are making our way down field. 5 seconds left and Rodgers hurries his team. The ball is snapped at 0:01, Greg Jennings isn’t set and time runs out ….GAME OVER!!!!!!! WE LOSE TO THE BENGALS!
Great final effort guys but in the words of Pharrell on that banging BP3 song …..”Oh Well!”

Saints Take Advantage of McNabbless Eagles

Another day, another win. The Saints are wearing their 2-0 start well, and it can honestly be said that they are the makings of what a good, solid team is supposed to look like. The Saints took advantage of the fact that the Eagles were without QB Donovan McNabb and of course showed no mercy. I will give the Eagles’ Kevin Kolb the credit he deserves. He did well with 391 yards as a first-time starter. Still, the Saints didn’t see him as much of a threat. I hate to admit, I was a little nervous in the beginning. We have a tendency to come with an explosive start, die somewhere in the middle and try to play catch up towards the end. It never fails. Although we have been a little better off these past two games, we’ll still have to watch out for those flaws.

Overall, I’m very impressed. I can’t remember being this excited about the team since the ’06 season. I think what gave them that boost that year was the fact that the city was counting on them. With all the drama-filled days during Hurricane Katrina, they were our black and gold saviors. This time around, they’re playing with an insatiable appetite that can only be satisfied with wins this season; wins that will hopefully carry us to a Super Bowl in the near future. Drew Brees always looks amazing, and I’m excited about him picking up where he left off last season.

    Stepping Up Their Game:
Ok, ok I know our fans can be a little harsh at times. I heard a few fans comparing Malcolm Jenkins to Jason David, and that made me cringe. Nobody wants that! I decided to give the kid time, and I’m beginning to like the adjustments he’s made. He’s a lot quicker and his coverage is a lot better. He had to play catch up from the beginning, so there was really no room to judge. I’m happy for him. Every little bit counts. With his improvements, he’s making the team better.
Gotta give it to Mr. Bush. He seems to be getting his groove back; now maybe I can exhale. Bush’s turning point came with his 19 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter on Sunday. Hopefully this will renew Bush’s confidence and be the start to a very successful season. Plus, with Pierre Thomas still healing and Mike Bell taking a rest with his sprained right knee, Who Dats are counting on him; really counting on him.

*Side note: I’m praying that I’m wrong, but it seems as if injuries are beginning to take over, starting with Billy Miller who is out for the season, all the way down to our running backs. Pierre Thomas should not be out long but is keeping playing time at a minimum while still recovering from a knee injury. Lance Moore has a hamstring injury that is said to be minor, and Mike Bell is also suffering with a knee injury. What Payton will do about Moore and Bell should be determined by Wednesday.

Next week, the Saints will take on the Bills in Buffalo. I can’t wait! Until next time, we’ll be keeping the faith. 3-0? Anything is possible!

Ladies: Time To Hook Your Football Wardrobe Up!

Okay ladies, football season is here. And if you're a huge fan like we are, then you know that wearing your favorite team's gear is a must once the season starts. But long gone are the days of wearing our man's jersey and jacket. The NFL has geared cute stuff for us, that fits our bodies like a glove. It's time to invest. Let's take a look at what we can wear to be cute and fan worthy:

    Junk Food Clothing Tees

They have the cutest retro NFL tees. Although I'm not a fan, my fave tee is the Denver Broncos tee. I'm eyeing the NFL tee to wear, myself. It's a great "run to the market" tee, if you have no clean tops of your favorite team. These are super cute and they have sweat jackets, sweat pants and hoodies that fit a woman's physique. I'm kind of mad that they don't have the Ravens original logo on here, but you can't win em all. You can click here to search for your favorite team, but here are a few just to show you what they have:

    Touch By Alyssa Milano

Yes, the actress from Who's The Boss is a fashion designer. Her line definitely is for girly girls who love football (like myself). Milano has the cutest separates and accessories so that we can pay homage to our best squads in a fashionable sense. From jackets and jeans, to necklaces and earrings, she has put together the perfect ensemble in make sure we looking good in the process of cheering our teams on. Ladies, please don't overdue it. If you are gonna wear the jeans, maybe you should get a simple tee and that's it. Don't wear the necklace, earrings, tee, jeans and hoodie all at once. Overkill is never good. Ever see a lady with an entire leopard outfit on? That would be you.... in fan gear. A No-no. Go to www.nflshop.com for Milano's pieces for your team. Here are a few of her designs:

    Foreplay Catalog

For my last site, I figured I'd spice it up a little bit. This is a great site to look for sexy Halloween costumes, or for a little "role play" for your special person. Think about it.. it's halftime, and instead of watching highlights of other games you don't care much about, you walk in front of the TV with a sexy referee outfit on. Can you say, "Halftime Snack"? Okay, sorry, I went there, but hey, we're all grown, right?!

Check out some of these outfits/costumes... I think I want to be a linebacker for Halloween.. Hmmmmmmmm

VS has come up with the cutest items for your favorite football team. From panties, to tees, to hoodies... this is the cutest line to show your man how much you LOVE the game of football (or just to show yourself how far you would go to prove your fandom).

There is just one problem: There are only 13 teams available on this line. I expressed my displeasure in my Ravens not being an option for this line. My football sis Pigskin Loving Lady felt slighted about her Bills being absent, as well. But if your team made the cute, then this is the line for you.

    Too few Moments…

I don’t remember the first time I ever watched a Kansas City Chiefs game. I didn’t grow up a Chiefs fan, and even though I’m from Mississippi, that didn’t stop me from being a San Francisco 49ers fan. I loved Joe Montana and Mississippi native son Jerry Rice. I cut my football teeth on “the Catch” and laughed heartily as the 49ers marched up and down the field at the New Orleans Superdome dropping a double nickel on the Elway and the Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV. In 1989, this upstart linebacker from Alabama was drafted in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs. I couldn’t have cared less, until I saw him take the field. He was a monster off the line leveling quarterbacks left and right. The next year, he set a record that still stands today, 7 sacks in a single game. Derrick Thomas was the reason I became a Kansas City Chiefs fan. When the Chiefs traded for Joe Montana (my all-time favorite) in 1994, I officially became a Chiefs fan.

Since then the number 6 has become an important number in the Chiefs organization. This past Sunday, the Chiefs dropped their 6th regular season game in a row. Six also happens to be the total number of wins the Chiefs have had since the 2007 season. The Chiefs have lost 6 Pro Bowl players, Willie Roaf, Will Shields, Trent Green, Jared Allen, Priest Holmes, and Tony Gonzalez. It has been 16 seasons since the Chiefs last won a playoff game (Ok, it’ll be 16 in January, but you get my point). The Chiefs are paying 63 million their new “franchise” quarterbacks.

I didn’t watch nor did I listen to the game Sunday. I usually listen to the game on my laptop, but I swear every time I do “Bad things happen, man, Bad Things.” It didn’t matter. I followed the game via Twitter and updates on the bottom of the screen. I was shaking my head as the Chiefs entered the fourth quarter with the Raiders up 6-3. This is a pro game and score was 6-3. I’m watching Drew Brees kill the Eagles while screaming about my Chiefs inability to apparently do, well, anything. Then, Cassel throws a pass to Dwayne Bowe and the Chiefs look like they are going to pull out one at Arrowhead. Wrong. With a little over a minute left, JaMarcus Russell drove the Raiders down the field with Darren McFadden driving the knife into the hearts and silencing the Arrowhead crowd.

The Chiefs dominated the game in every way except the one that counts. Matt Cassel was 24-39 in passing; JaMarcus Russell was 7-24 (that’s not a typo, he only completed 7 passes in the whole game). The Chiefs had 409 yards of offense, while the Raiders had 166 yards of offense. Chiefs held the ball for 38:39, the Raiders, 21:21. Penalties were prevalent for both teams (Chiefs 9 [70 yards], Raiders 7 [45 yards]).

Todd Haley and Scott Pioli keep telling us that they have a plan for the team, a plan that they have decided not to share with the fans. I know that in the last three years, we have had 5 quarterbacks in the last three years, only 14 of the 26 draft picks have remained, and we traded the franchise player for a 2nd round pick next year. The Chiefs (I still believe that the NFL schedulers hate the Chiefs) face the Eagles next followed by every other team in the NFC East and the Chargers. The Chiefs are 0-2, record that only 14% of the teams in the league overcome yearly to make the playoffs. The Chiefs need to learn how to start, maintain, and finish, or they will never raise the Lamar Hunt trophy much less the Lombardi trophy.

Cesare Pavese, an Italian poet, once said, “We do not remember days, we remember moments.”

November 20, 2008-That was the last time the Kansas City Chiefs won a regular season football game. Since 2007, the Chiefs have won 6 out of 48 games, a record only slightly better than the Lions and the Rams.

They played valiantly, but they came up a little short-Raiders 13, Chiefs 10. This was the final score Sunday, September 20, 2009, but it could have been the week before or the week before that because the Chiefs have not won a game since November 30, 2008.

    New England "State of Mind"

I woke up with football on my mind. Instead of my normal "what am I going to wear today" daydream in the shower this morning, I ran my own Monday morning highlight reel, mostly with clips of the Patriots loss to the New York Jets. I'll admit that my outfit and timeliness may have suffered slightly because of this brain detour, but I figure that my intro to all of you would be worth it.

The Patriots had their first loss on the Jets field since 2000. It was the first time since 2006 that Brady didn’t score a touchdown. Obviously, I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy inside about the reality of this.

I have been a New England Patriots fan since the age of 12, my first game in what was then Foxboro, against, you guessed it, the Jets. As I huddled with my cocoa, I decided that day; my future legal career could find a loophole where I'd end up the new owner of the Patriots Franchise. Lofty goals for a child, I’m certain, but I fell in love that day with a team and a game. As far back as I can remember in Pats football, there was one major rule; you hated the Jets (oh and the Chicago Bears for taking our Championship away from us in 1985) yes, I hold grudges, but I digress.

Maybe it's leftover Red Sox/Yankees animosity, or maybe we New Englanders just don't care much for the Empire State. I could be the only one actually annoyed by Jay-Z's New York anthem, and I love Jay-Z, but rules are rules, right? Bostonians and New Yorkers aren’t meant to be BFF’s.

Mostly under the previous reign of Mangini, the old rivalry has come back to life. The J-E-T-S seem to pick it up a bit more, when they play New England. I wanted the Pats to beat this team that had talked so recklessly all week about “embarrassment” and “kissing rings.” How very small of them, in my best Nene Leakes impersonation. I thought when you were the better team, that the talking takes place on the field. Unfortunately for the Patriots, that was exactly what happened.

I had only one thought after the game; the Patriots are going to be in trouble if they don't find any consistency on the field.

Tom Brady still has his passion for winning, but his accuracy is down. That was apparent Monday night and quickly became apparent yesterday. Giselle needs to give her man a pep talk and a hug. Other key players must step up; Tom Brady can no longer do it all. The key players I'm speaking of weren't given the opportunity to do exactly what they did Game 1. Kevin Falk, Benjamin Watson and Randy Moss, needed to have more opportunities in the game, instead Brady went to rookie Edelman and newcomer vet, Galloway repeatedly, much to my annoyance.

What remained a looming indicator over the past two games was that the team took tremendous losses in not just the veteran defense, but in the voices and leadership on the team. Seymour, Bruschi, Vrabel, Harrison and Hobbs were significant losses for the team as leaders, but the defense wasn’t our main issue yesterday, oddly, our offense was.

There were times yesterday where the Pats looked like they were all rookies still studying the playbook. I mean was our entire offense wearing an armband yesterday? At least they could make us fans feel like they know what they’re doing out there. Instead, they looked confused, frustrated and worse yet, sloppy. It’s been some time since I’ve seen a Belichick team looked as flawed.

The light at the end of the tunnel (there is one I swear) is that this isn't all bad news. So put down the shots of tequila, pull your patriots gear back out of the corner it was thrown in last night and let's all leave our bad attitudes behind. It's Week 2 in the NFL. We got to see how some new players fit into the process, as well as what didn’t work for them. We got to see real weaknesses within the team’s offense and defense. We got to see just how valuable work horses like Kevin Falk and Wes Welker are to our team. And now the team has a chance to pick up their Patriots pride which took many hits and many yellow flags yesterday, and rebuild this team.

Maybe this was all just one big test concocted by the mastermind Belichick to get the fight back in his team. I’m pretty sure that believing that will get me through to the game next Sunday, when the hometown favorite, Matt Ryan (Boston College) comes home and attempts to show why the Falcons are currently undefeated. I tend to believe, however, that they will see a completely different Patriots team, Belichick will guarantee that.

J-E-T-S WIN! WIN! WIN! in spite of Dan Dierdorf

Sorry Dan Dierdorf, the game you wanted to see yesterday between the Jets and the Patriots just didn't happen. Try as you might to blame the receivers, and the officials for his ineptitude, the fact of the matter is, the Jets defense is better than you think they are. I'm not so sorry for Rodney Harrsion, who spent the last few days of his retirement talking shit about and to the Jets (namely Kerry Rhodes) on Twitter, Radio and television about "disrepect," only to watch his beloved Patriots take the "L" on Sunday.

Watching the two of them try to explain themselves and fail, and try to avoid the crow being served up with bleu cheese and celery sticks was beyond entertaining, but beyond all that-it was a great game.

The Jets didn't look so good offensively, and after an opening drive fumble, and a series of three and outs that made it seem like the Pats offense spent the entire first half on the field. Things weren't clicking right away, and the Jets had only scored a field goal when the first half ended.

Thing about it, the Pats had only scored 3 FGs, and the Jets defense so stymied them, that they went scoreless in the second half. Yep, that's right, no last minute field goal drives here, strictly Revis, Harris, Jenkins, Ellis and the rest of the Jets D shutting the Patriots down and beating them at their own game.

The Mark Sanchez we all fell in love with last week came out for the second half, and he came out to lead the Jets downfield for three more scores before it was all said and done. All in all, he went 14/22 for 163 yards and a TD. Not the best numbers ever, but definitely enough to get the job done.

I can't express how happy it made me. Yes, it was a regular season game. I know the Patriots have been on the winning end of the equation for a really long time, but watching the Jets win, and the looks on the faces in the stands, feeling the excitement, and shutting those talk shit, know nothing, Tom Brady mancrush having pundits up? Priceless.

Ravens: Is It FINALLY Our Turn To Be Elite???

First, let me say this. I'm the type of fan that is never satisfied. When the Ravens win, I point out what went wrong. When they lose, I point out what went wrong. You can never please me. But today I'm turning a new leaf. I'm gonna start giving props when it's due. We're 2-0 and and life is good in the land of Johnny U right now.

I won't lie, yesterday's 31-26 win over the Chargers is unsettling to me. Chargers QB Philip Rivers (AKA "My Boo") had a career day, passing for 436 yards and 2 TDs, and while Rivers and his receivers couldn't be stopped, the Ravens secondary managed to only allow 1 TD when the Chargers reached the Red Zone. Not that it softens the blow the Chargers gave us. But it's a start.

The defense will get themselves together. They are under a new system with a new defensive coordinator Greg Mattison (who replaced Rex Ryan, now the head coach of the NY Jets), so the terminology and the schemes may have made some changes. And with playmakers such as Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Haloti Ngata, the defense will find a way to regroup and not make the same mistakes twice. Remember, the 2000 Ravens gave up over 400 yards of offense to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 (a similar team as the Jags, by-the-way). They won the game, and the defense settled down afterward, becoming one of the greatest defenses in NFL history.

The one thing that is different about this team in year's past, is the offense. For the first time since Vinny Testaverde was the QB, the Ravens look like they have an offense that can compliment the defense and finally become a more balanced team. Long gone are the days of 12-7 games. The Ravens have scored 30 + points two weeks in a row. As of today, they are 3rd in the league in yards and second in the league in points. Flacco and Co. have found a way to finally help the defense rest and put points on the board. The offensive line is one of the youngest and best in the league already. And with the veteran leadership of C Matt Birk (Vikings) added to the roster, the offense will be a great one for years to come.

Can this be it?? Can the Ravens finally make the turn of being an elite team? We'll see as the season goes along, but I'm riding this wave for as long as I can, baby!

Hail to the Redskins...I don't think so

    Hail to the Redskins
    Hail Vic-tor-y
    Braves on the Warpath
    Fight for old D.C.

Run or pass and score -- we want a lot more!
    Beat 'em, Swamp 'em,
Touchdown! -- Let the points soar!
Fight on, fight on 'Til you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Fight!, Fight!, Fight!

    Hail to the Redskins
    Hail Vic-tor-y
    Braves on the Warpath
    Fight for old D.C.
    -Washington Redskins Fight Song
This is what did NOT happen in yesterday's game against the St. Louis Rams: no warpath, no points soar and barely any fighting for "old D.C." Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we won; I'm glad our defense was on point and I'm glad I can wear my Redskins earrings today. However, I'm not glad we didn't score ONE touchdown, I'm not glad we didn't roll over the Rams as we should have and I'm most certainly not glad with our offense's inability to seal the deal.

There are basics to football: run, catch, tackle, throw and kick...this is the game in its most simplistic form. Young boys playing Pop Warner Football learn these fundamentals from the beginning. These skills are continually practiced and honed as the boys --> teenagers --> young men --> professional athletes progresses through careers in the game of football. Seemingly the Skins have forgotten these fundamentals. I can say this because there is NO other explanation for being in the red zone FOUR times and not putting seven points on the score board at least once, if not every time.

What's the point of fighting your way down the field if you're not going to go all the way?!?! This is the equivalent of shopping and not buying anything, what's the point of finding a parking space, fighting a crowd, trying on clothes/shoes and then walking out empty handed?

I need to buy the shoes; I need to cross the end zone and I most definitely need a win I can sing about.

JaMarcus? The last 2 minutes, seriously?!

Sunday wasn’t filled with too much football for me. My girlfriend was here from out of town so my morning consisted of Roscoe Chicken and Waffles and shopping on Melrose but thank goodness for TiVo! After I saw her off, I watched Tony Romo trick off my Fantasy score, got my kids to bed, finished my homework and stretched out ready to watch the game. Coming off a bitter sweet loss to the Chargers, it was time we head to Kansas City to take care of business with the Chiefs. Before I saw the Raiders schedule I predicted them to be an 8-8 team. After watching them play and looking at the schedule, by the time I was done scribbling Ws & Ls I had them 11-5. My prediction for the chiefs would later become fact as the Raiders won 13-10. The win wasn’t as pretty as I would have liked for it to be ending the 1st half 3-3 and entering the 4th with a 9-3 lead but nevertheless it was a mark for the W column.

JaMarcus Russell right now seems to be our weakest link. He does not have the accuracy we need him to have keeping us from jumping on the board early and finishing strong. We had entirely too many 3 and outs and that’s nothing but Russells inability to see the bulls eye on his WR chest. The receivers are there and the run is on point. Seymour has given us a boost on the other side of the ball and you can tell as we get better defending the run. Seymours presence must be rubbing off because the players are stepping up individually and are looking better as a whole. Michael Huff that didn’t have 1 interception last year now has 3 in 2 weeks. Looks like Huff could be saying ‘Thank you kindly’ often, if he keeps it up. Nnamdi as always was a beast on the field & even with a broken wrist had huge plays for us. With some of our guys banged up, we still came out to play, applying pressure to Cassel and making plays. Now it’s JaMarcus who needs to step it up 6 notches.

Our defense was holding us down but that would change in the remaining 2:38 in the 4th. A 29 yard pass with less than 3 minutes in the game had me waking up the whole house. I’m screaming what the hell is wrong with John Marshall? The next two plays, I’m yelling ‘oh hell no’ a pass from JaMarcus was almost picked off and then a penalty on Miller. A pass to Murphy had me relaxed and as soon I thought I could breathe easy the catch Heyward-Bey could have taken the house was called back because of a false start, giving us 1st and 15. With 2:10 remaining JaMarcus was sacked but we were redeemed with a rougher the passer call. 1st down! These 2 minutes was worse than the 2 minutes of the Chargers game for me. A third false start in this drive had me hotter than fish grease. Janikowski won’t do anything for us with KC up 4. We needed a score and Todd Watkins came up BIG for us with a 1st down. The next play I jump up, trying to hold my composer because it was late and people were sleep but TOUCHDOWN MCFADDEN!!!!!!! Because I couldn’t scream I did I light stomp around my bed twice with my face cringed and fist balled…yes! it’s that serious for me! JaMarcus is killing me though. He can’t wait until the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter to make something happen. It doesn’t always work and you would think he would have remembered that from last week. Now it’s time for us to kick off, do we make the same mistakes we did in the Charger game or will the defense make a stand? SAAAAAAAACK courtesy of Greg Ellis. 4th and 4 for the Chiefs. I’m on the edge of my bed hella nervous and Cassels pass is deflected by …..Michael Huff, turnover on downs. GAME O-V-A.

I’m happy about this win. I’m happy about this new Raider team. I’ve been faithful to my Raider Jersey but I think I’m going to have to let go of my old love #24 Woodson for I have found a new love in #18 Murphy. To me he’s like Woodson was, hungry out there and ready to make plays, I’m excited to see what he can do out here… See ya next week in Denver. While I don’t ever predict scores I do predict a win for the Silver and Black!
