Monday Night Football was great. The game was full of excitement until the very end. The Niners showed up and made up for that pitiful game last week. There were miscues on the offensive side of the ball that prevented us from winning the game. Baas, the backup center, snapped the ball over Smith's head early in the first quarter and Smith smartly knocked it outof the end zone for a safety. Smith also threw 2 INTs which hurt the on-field progress. Walker fumbling the ball at the 3 just before halftime killed a scoring drive that could have given us the lead going into halftime.
Gore was a force running the ball, finishing with 112 yards on 20 carries. He also scored two TDs, one receiving, giving his fantasyowners good points for the week. Davis made the catch of the night, securing the two point conversion to tie the game. The chemistry that was lacking last week was there this week.
Coach Singletary made me realize why I love him as a coach. He has a passion for the game that cannot be described. Did you see him run out on the field before the two minute warning at the end of the game? He was gonna make sure the refs saw him call the time out.
This game is a moral victory for the Niners. I did not expect them to win the game, although I hoped that they did. They were playing the Super Bowl champs. I just wanted the game to be competitive and for them to look better than last week. They did that and almost won the game by partially blocking the field goal with no time on the clock. Looking for a win next week against the Chiefs. (2-0??? Really???) We cannot afford to lose three games in a row to start the season. This team is better than that.
