A Sign of Hope in Buffalo

One of my twitter pals sent me the link to this video and I hollered!! LMBOOO Thank God Kevin Everett is walking again, but this video captures my feelings on what kind of season the Buffalo Bills will have based on preseason play. Will they lay dormant or kick back?

After the game against the Washington Redskins, internally, I cried. All I could think about is the pain and torture I'd receive from people on Twitter. Trent Edwards played like we expected him too. Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch both were injured and the defense suck booty. Final score, 17 - 42. At least the pregame
    trash talking was fun.

Game 2, the Bills played hard ball against the Indianapolis Colts in Toronto. I joked that if they'd promise to kick ass like that every week, maybe the move to TO isn't a bad idea. *insert sarcasm* First-round draft pick C.J. Spiller scored a 31-yard TD and is definitely the spark the Bills needed on offense. Trent Edwards probably secured his job as the starter, completing 5 - 8 passes for 93 yards; one was a 70 yard TD to WR Lee Evans. The defense stepped their game up, CB Terrence McGee intercepted Manning for a 73 yard TD and the Bills never trailed during the game. 21 - 34

Terrell Owens and the Cincinnati Bengals traveled to Buffalo for game 3 of the preseason and left with an 'l'. (20 - 35) Yay!! Once again, C.J. Spiller is proving to be a threat for the upcoming season. I'm begging Chan Gailey to bench him against the Lions. We can't sustain another injury and expect to win 8 games. ;-) Yup....eight games!! I know this is preseason but I'm a die-hard Bills fan. Any signs of positivity get put on a pedestal! Once again, I'm sucked into BILLieving!!! Let's Go Buffalo!!

New Ravens Fight Song- Yay Or Nay?

Yesterday, The Ravens unveiled the "new" fight song, which was the original Baltimore Colts fight song. The changed the words around in order to incorporate the new generation of Baltimore fans.

I was only 4 1/2 years old when the Colts left in the middle of the night and headed to Indianapolis (I'm telling my age, aren't I? LOL). So I can admit, I'm not as attached to the fight song as my father and uncle may be. They were HUGE Colts fans growing up and cherish the fight song. I listened to it, and at first, really didn't have an opinion on whether I actually liked it or not. But I do feel a sense of pride in hearing a song that is beloved by so many others in the generations before me. I'm glad the Ravens have decided to make the decision to change it.

I thought it was cool that former Colts Band Director John Ziemann explained how the fight song came to be (it has been used by 6 professional football teams in the State of MD, including the USFL Baltimore Stars and the CFL Baltimore Stallions).

Underneath the post on the Baltimore Sun's website, is a comment from a reader/listener that stuck out to me.

Somewhere up above Johnny Unitas & Chuck Thompson are smiling about this news, and enjoying a cold one !

I couldn't have said it better. The Ravens won with this one. So I give it a Yay.... Thank you Ravens, for bridging the gap between old Colts faithful and new found Ravens fans.

    Why ask Why

I must say Saturday’s game left me uninspired to write about my beloved Steelers. I found myself asking more questions and wondering why? There are several issues the coaching staff has yet to answer. So I’ll throw these questions out to other Steelers fans and see if you’ll bring some clarity to the “Why ask Why’s”

Why do they continue to play Dixon with the 2nd string? We’ll never get to see what he can/ can’t do against a 1st string defense. They want us to think he’s not ready, but won’t let us see for ourselves. Then again, we could use his performance against the Ravens last year as a guide, but without having something to compare last year to can we really gauge if he’s ready? Last I checked Dixon was leading the team in passing yards, averaging 105 yards per game. Why isn’t Dixon ready, Tebow, Sanchez, and Colt are all ready; what are we not doing to get him ready? What if something happened to Ben tomorrow… Out of the 3 QBs that play in Saturday’s game, Dixon had the highest completion percentage. One thing that you can count on with Dixon; he matriculates the offense and gets them moving down field.

Why is the offensive line still leaking (like a broken faucet) after 2 seasons of terrible blocking? With a offensive line that is unpredictable, why would we have a QB that’s like a statue and unable to get out of the way?

Why are we continuing to bring back older players without taking advantage of the young talent we’ve drafted? For example, Flozell Adams and Antwaan Randel-El or on the field, but where are Markice Pouncey, Kraig Urbik, and Ziggy Hood? The League is getting younger and our team is getting older…

Why does Bruce Arians continue to sabotage the offense, with his play calling? After last season’s red zone rating, we continue to settle for field goals in the red zone.

And lastly, WHY is Bruce Arians still the Offensive Coordinator?

I could go on forever wondering why our Steelers are being lead this way. It is because I love my Steelers, that I ask such questions. They challenge my patience at times, and I’m challenging their decisions. That’s my Steeltown version of tough love. We need another Superbowl, and with all these questions looming, it appears we have some work to do, to reach our goal. I will settle for nothing less than perfection. Fellow fans, what do you think are the answers to get us were we need to be, in order to get another championship under our belts?

Gridiron Gals Tour In Full Effect!

Last Saturday, Pigskin Loving Lady and I went to the Ravens-Redskins preseason game. Of course, it's just preseason, but we don't pass up game tickets, regular season or not. Of course, being the Ravens fan I am, I wanted to head to FedEx Field and support my squad. With PLL with me, it became official: The Gridiron Gals Tour is underway. Not to be rivaled with Ed The Sports Fan's Shock The World Tour, our tour is exclusively football!

We met up with fellow tweeter @DCSportsDiva during our tour, and recorded a little bit of our evening for you to see. Let me apologize for PLL's foul mouth, but you can never say anything bad about Ray Lewis around her, or the claws will come out.

Expect more videos to come from our GGals Tour. It's gonna be crazy, and we hope you enjoy.

And They Said Byron Was The Answer…..

Looks to me like there is a serious need for Tomlin to watch film from Saturday’s pre-season game against the Lions. I’ve been saying for the longest time, that they need to play Dennis Dixon. For some reason Mike Tomlin and company, believed that Byron Leftwich was the answer to the “who will play QB while Ben is on suspension” question. I knew when they brought Byron back; Dennis would see more bench than field time. Even after screaming at my television last season, “why are you playing Batch instead of Dixon,” I held out hope for common sense to prevail.

Yes, Dennis is younger and less experienced, but the boy has talent. On Saturday the former Oregon Ducks completed 6-of-7 passes for 128 passing yards and a TD pass. He also ran for 31 yards during Pittsburgh’s 23-7 victory. Everybody likes the traditional pocket-passing QB, but watching Dennis Dixon play is much more exciting. His skill-set allows him to be on the run and still make the play, which allows for more options offensively. His ability to get outside the pocket will give defenses pause before teeing off on the pass rush.

In Saturday’s game against the Lions, the only moving Byron did was towards the ground – sacked. Don’t get me wrong Byron Leftwich is a good QB. He won the 1st game he started in for Pittsburgh against the Redskins. However, Dennis has earned a chance to show what he can do. I watched the interview Mike Tomlin did on Tuesday’s NFL Access, and he emphasized that Dixon is young and needs more game time experience, and improve at throwing from the pocket. Well let’s see it Mike! If he needs game time experience, why not allow him to start for the remaining pre-season games and in Ben’s absence.

Maybe if Ben feels the pressure from what could be the future QB for Steeltown, we will see more of the Big Ben we fell in love with. (Not that there’s a competition, just maybe Dixon can keep Ben on his toes and focused on his job). Ben is elusive in the pocket; he knows his offensive line and when to move – most of the time.

Ask yourself, who you’d want leading our beloved Steelers in Ben’s absence; a QB that can run like the wind and make passes/ plays at the same time and can run for the touchdown if needed. Or a QB that is limited to being a pocket passer who is unable to move out of the way when the offensive line has failed. There’s the question which QB is your answer.

    The NEW York Giants?!!

    Greetings!!

Last season, the Giants left me so uninspired to type or write anything!! I can give you more excuses…but I was lazy and unmotivated! Sorry to leave you hangin!

Hopefully that won’t be the case this year, but I will stay the course regardless and take my lumps if need be!

I refuse to comment on last season because this is a NEW season, in a NEW stadium with a NEW defensive coordinator and tons of NEW changes for the NEW York Football Giants! Let’s hope all this newness comes with a WINNING and Playoff bound season.

So first things first, I am sure Big Blue Nation breathed a deep collective sigh of relief when last year’s Defensive Coordinator Bill Sheridan was given his walking papers! See ya! NYG then hired former Buffalo Bill’s DC and Interim Head Coach Perry Fewell, I am excited! I have been hearing great things!

    Roster moves:

    Veteran Additions:
QB Jim Sorgi, LB Keith Bulluck, S Antrel Rolle, S Deon Grant.
    Draft Picks:
DE Jason Pierre-Paul, DT Linval Joseph, S Chad Jones, LB Phillip Dillard, LB Adrian Tracy, G Mitch Petrus, P Matt Dodge
    Losses:
David Carr, Fred Robbins, Danny Clark, Antonio Pierce, Kevin Dockery, C.C. Brown, Jeff Feagles and Domenik Hixon who was placed on season ending injured reserve.
    L

The Giants suffered greatly last year due to injuries and I hope and pray that doesn’t occur this year. Everyone so far has claimed to be healthy and on target to being ready for our first regular season game. I am excited to have Kenny Phillips back! Also, running backs Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown are all returning from injuries and surgeries with Brown returning from the most serious injury, his Achilles.

Per Mike Garafolo and The Star – Ledger here is who hasn’t been practicing due to injury:

CB Corey Webster – (glute muscle), WR Steve Smith (groin), WR Sinorice Moss (groin), RG Chris Snee (knee), TE Kevin Boss (hamstring/ankle), TE Travis Beckum (hamstring), TE Scott Chandler (hip flexor), TE Jake Ballard (hamstring) and OL Kevin Booth (pec/PUP) and G Rich Seubert (broken bone in hand)

We have one available tight end for Monday night’s first pre-season game against the Jets and that’s Bear Pascoe.

Listen folks sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying. None of the injuries listed are season ending and everyone SHOULD be ready to go for our first regular season game! So let’s all form a prayer circle! LOL

In other news I am looking for GREAT things from Hakeem Nicks! Here…allow yourself to get hype:

Okay and let’s not forget that beautiful NEW stadium that we have…You can call it the NEW Meadowlands…I’ll call it the NEW GIANTS Stadium. J

I went to the open Minicamp practice at the new Giants stadium with my daughters , mom and nephew and it was very cool to get an inside look at the new stadium prior to opening day. Here are a few pics:

What was left of the old Giants stadium L

    Photobucket

And here she is the NEW Giants stadium!

    I think she’s pretty! LOL

As you can see it’s a pretty nice place! LOL And it will be hosting Super Bowl 2014! *fist pump*

If you haven’t noticed I keep calling it the NEW GIANTS Stadium…teehee I know the Jets are feeling themselves and hey, it may be deserved from a NEW York Giant fan WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU ALL THINKING THIS IS YOUR STADIUM. It isn’t. We are still your landlords, you are just the tenants. You pay us rent and we allow you to sleep on the couch. LOL To be even more petty of course the Giants hosted their minicamp practice first and the Jets followed suit the next day! HA HA!

The guy on the couch Pictures, Images and Photos

And if you think anything different well then…

You are so dumb Pictures, Images and Photos

So here is to the start of a NEW season in a NEW stadium with the NEW York Football Giants!

Adam Schefter Hits Ravens Training Camp!

Yesterday, ESPN's Adam Schefter visited my boys in Westminster as a stop during his training camp tour bus. Ravens QB Joe Flacco and RB Ray Rice (2008 draft class) talk about being drafted together, what they think the offense can do this season and flying under the radar (or lack thereof).

It's safe to say that Joe Cool is maturing before our eyes. Before, Flacco wasn't a vocal kind of guy, but judging by this conversation, he's seemed to open up more... something fans want to see from a QB.

I'm excited about the season and what it will bring. Hopefully, Joe and Ray can stay healthy and lead my boys to victory!
