People are really serious about this protesting Mike Vick thing. Okay. Here’s my take as a dog lover. I think dog fighting is disgusting, inhumane and any other bad adjective you can think of. I think it has given bully breed dogs a horrible name. Not to mention the non bully breed dogs used to train them that have also been severely abused. I read the docket. Mike Vick is sadistic. He drowned a dog. He electrocuted a dog. He didn’t have to do that. Disgusting.
Dog fighting is a culture. It’s been going on for decades. Its the same as bull fighting, and cock fighting. Bull fighting is really bad don’t even read about that. The way you stop something like dog fighting from happening, especially because of the criminal aspect that almost always surrounds it (Vick slid on by those drug charges) is to petition your local lawmakers for tougher animal cruelty and illegal gambling laws. Join advocacy groups. ADOPT DOGS AND DON’T BUY THEM. Donate money to organizations that help save and rehabilitate dogs who were used as fight bait or to fight.
Mike Vick has done his time, and has apologized profusely for his actions. He is not allowed to have dogs even though his kids want one. He even had the court managing all of his finances because his biggest issue is his damn family. How much more does he have to do before we move on? I’m not a fan of Vick, but I acknowledge the talent he once had. He’s going to be the backup QB when is the last time you have seen a backup in for Big Ben? He isn’t that good anymore. He plays scared, he throws like a weirdo, he’s too small and that AFC North defense would fold him up like a pretzel on every snap.
The Steelers don’t care about you protesting. The NFL definitely does not care. This is Mike’s 3rd NFL team since he was reinstated. What in the world are you people still talking about? So many fans are saying they won’t be watching, or that they are not supporting the team anymore. They’re turning in their jerseys. OH GOOD DO THAT. The Steelers are still going to be the most widely represented and recognized franchise in the NFL.
Bottom line is, we are too hypocritical and choosy about whom we forgive. No one says you have to like the guy or what he did, but don’t be a giant hypocrite when it comes to Mike Vick, especially when the Starting QB has some questionable skeletons running sprints in his closet. Interesting how that all goes away when Big Ben can bring you 2 Super Bowl rings.
